run your first Cargo check
Sign in, submit one Cargo check and inspect its result.
For: Rust developers new to Sorus
Run one Cargo check on Sorus, then inspect the job and its compiler output. You need basic Cargo familiarity; no prior Sorus experience is required.
requirements
Use a workspace where cargo check --workspace already succeeds locally with the toolchain agreed for your beta. You also need beta access, repository authorisation and the client supplied during onboarding. Confirm the supported workloads and your account limits.
Install the client using your onboarding instructions, including the supplied integrity checks. This beta baseline has no documented public installer or crates.io installation route. The commands below use a POSIX-compatible shell.
sign in
Run:
cargo sorus login
The client prints an approval page and a device code. Open that page in your signed-in browser session and approve the matching code. Then check the active identity:
cargo sorus whoami
Confirm that the identity belongs to the account authorised for your repository. Continue once authentication succeeds.
run a check
Open a terminal in the workspace’s root directory and run:
cargo sorus check --workspace
The equivalent standalone command is sorus check --workspace.
The client captures and uploads the repository source, submits a job and follows its progress. Keep the printed job identifier and submission key. Wait for the command to finish.
You are running a compiler check. This command does not run your tests or produce a final executable.
read the result
Immediately after the check returns, inspect its exit code:
echo $?
For the working project selected above, the expected result is 0. If it is not 0, use the troubleshooting guide before continuing; a platform or connection failure does not show that your code failed.
Replace <job> below with the job identifier from the check:
cargo sorus status <job>
cargo sorus logs <job>
The status command should show the completed, successful job. The logs command retrieves its compiler output. You have now submitted and inspected one Rust check on Sorus.
compare with your existing CI
To evaluate this workload in CI, continue with running Sorus from CI and the benchmark method. For other Cargo commands and options, use the CLI reference. The job recovery guide covers disconnects, retries and cancellation.
