select and verify a toolchain

Request a supported compiler version and check the resolved build inputs.

For: Rust developers using pinned toolchains

reviewed 2026-10-06 · versions & availability

Use a specific compiler for a Sorus job and verify that it matches the workload you intend to run. You need the Cargo command, repository inputs and toolchain version used by your existing build.

select a toolchain

  1. Check that the required version is listed in supported workloads and enabled for your beta release.
  2. Add --toolchain <toolchain> to the supported cargo sorus invocation, replacing the placeholder with that exact version.
  3. Request --json and inspect toolchain and toolchain_origin in the result to confirm what was selected.

The candidate stable version is 1.98.0. Upstream releases are not automatically available through a moving channel alias. If you use the release’s default-selection rules instead of an explicit pin, still inspect the resolved version.

compare build inputs

Before comparing a local or CI run with Sorus, record the compiler, source commit, Cargo command, features, profile, target and dependency lock for both. Resolve differences before interpreting the timings. Your local default compiler may differ from Sorus’s stable fallback.

environment and build semantics

List any environment variables, installed programs and network services your command needs. Confirm them against the workload reference; the guest does not inherit your laptop’s environment.

Check reported transformations and refused options. Changes to build or test semantics must be visible, reported and opt-in. Tests cannot be dropped or compiler flags changed silently to improve a result.
